October's Meeting and Notes from September's Meeting

October Meeting will be Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2:30pm in the Harrison Room in Malone Hall.

The item drive for October will be things to help support the DOTHAN POLICE DEPARTMENT’S  At-Risk boxing facility in Dothan.

Items can be anything that you consider valuable to a boxing gym for example:

  • they use chess games for the kids that are not boxing and waiting to get into ring
  • water
  • towels
  • tape for gloves
  • hand wraps for gloves
  • jump ropes

….etc…I hope you get the idea!

We will also be taking donations for the DPD At-Risk facility to present them with a check at the beginning of December. You can give in increments of $5, and will receive a point per $5 up to 4 points. Donations will start now and will end at the November Picnic!

 

Hello all, here are the notes from Sunday’s meeting (September's Meeting):
First of all…Let’s congratulate our new Special Projects Director, Ms. Sara Martin!
Thanks to all that stayed after Sunday’s meeting and participated in the Adopt – A- Mile!!!
Fall Recruitment has been set for Tuesday, October 4, 20ll….an additional email will be sent regarding Fall Recruitment!
  •   If you are graduating in the Fall and want to order cords and stolls you may do so at the October meeting.  Cords are $13.50 and stolls are $18.00
  •   If you were inducted in the fall, then you have dues that are due at the October’s meeting…dues are $25!
  •   The membership voted and decided that we will participate in the Peanut Festival Booth contest this year!  The theme is “PEANUTS WE DIG EM”! The judging will take place on November 4, 2011 at 9:00am…..The SET-UP time is Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 9:00am – 7:00pm….The TEAR-DOWN time is Sunday, November 13, 2011 between 10:00am – 2:00pm…if you would to sign up for this committee email me and I will pass your info on to the committee chair.  You will be awarded points for working on committee; you will receive a service project for assisting with the tear down as long as you serve a minimum of two hours.
  •   Those of you that ordered T-shirts, they will be in by October’s meeting! I really appreciate your patience, thanks!
  •   The dates for Fall Orientation have been set and the dates are as follows: Thursday, October 6, at 6:00pm and Sunday, October 9, at 2:30pm.  If you can attend either or both sessions that would really be appreciated. We will need light snacks and door prizes for each orientation.  You will get the appropriate amount of points for attending and what you donate.
  •   We have two fundraising projects that have been established: Red Elephant  - we will be participating in dining for dollars on October 11, 2011 and it will be an all-day event. Tell everyone you know to go and support Gamma Beta Phi!  There will be fliers sent out in an email that you may print and give to people.  You must tell your server that you want a percentage to go to Gamma Beta Phi! I will send out an email with the time that GAMMA BETA Phi will go as a group! Participating in the Dining for Dollars is a Service Project.  Chill Yogurt - has also given us permission to have a fundraiser at their establishment.  Chill Yogurt, located next to Publix next to Home Depot is the participating Chill Yogurt.  This fundraiser is set for Friday, September 30; this fundraiser will begin at 11:00am and will continue throughout the day.  We will NOT attend Chill Yogurt as a group. Keep in mind that this date may change!
  •   You may start bringing in your Turkey Cards from now until we have the Pic Nic in November!  Please only give your cards to ME (Scotty Snell)!!  This will count as a service project! The card must have a minimum of $15 to go towards the purchasing of a turkey.
  •   There will be additional emails sent with service project opportunities and about different events going on in the area.
